Mental Health Court
Mental Health Court is a misdemeanor therapeutic court. Participants have a pending misdemeanor case. The Forensic Case Manager has overall responsibility for the individual and maintains contact with the courts as needed regarding the individual's progress toward retaining competence. Individuals learn about the legal process and how that pertains to their situation. Constant communication is maintained with hospital treatment teams and assistance with discharge planning is provided when the individual returns to the community. Conditional releases are monitored. Added components in Alachua County include evaluation and community liaison. The Mental Health Court program operates in Alachua & Columbia Counties.
